AllanismSF meets the one and only Jesus!!!

Yes it was bound to happen sooner or later.  I was finally able to meet the inspiration behind Texting With Jesus--Ted Neeley!!
This last weekend at the Castro Theatre they were showing Jesus Christ Superstar for the 40th anniversary of the film.  I recommend that everyone see this movie weather you are a fan of musicals or not.  It's very beautifully shot on location in Jerusalem back in the early 70s when war was still raging there.  It's director, Norman Jewison, paid attention to detail and emotion when filming this and it comes through very distinctly.
He was an incredibly soft spoken man yet you couldn't turn your ear away because he had so many interesting bits and pieces to share with everyone.
After the show I waited in a looooonnnnng line to meet this icon of my past.
I finally got to the front of the line and my mouth stopped.
I had ran in my head everything I wanted to say to him.  Loads of Thank Yous and heaps of OMGYOU'REAMAZINGINITHIS!!
When I got there my mouth stopped working.
     I know...A first.
He took my hand slowly and introduced himself in his soft voice and asked my name.  I told him how this was my first time seeing this on the big screen, and how every time I had seen it was on TV or at home.
He looked at me with wide eyes and stated "I know!  It's amazing on the big screen right?"
I laugh a bit and told him how I noticed that at the end of the film, never before while watching it, that you can see a figure walk by, herding sheep.
He told me that it was a mistake while filming and wasn't planned.
He saw it as Jesus herding his flock and was happy with the final result it makes to the film as a whole.
We chatted for a bit more and mentioned how I loved his paisley shirt in the beginning of the film before he donned his robe to become Jesus.
He smiled softly to himself.  "That was the same shirt I wore to the audition when I was trying out for the part off Broadway.  I though it fitting it make it's way into the film somehow."
He then motioned to the Blu Ray of JCS I was clutching.
I giggled as I handed it to him.
He asked for the spelling of my name and got it right the first time out of the gate---that never happens.
When he was finished he replaced the cap on the pen and pointed to the bottom of the blu ray where there were dancers flying in a glorious leap.
"See her?"  He smiled with happiness and contentment.  "That's my wonderful wife.  I met her while we were shooting this."
My heart began to race.  He met the woman of his dreams in such an amazing circumstance and they still make each other smile
     I had a thought....
"Would you put a heart above her for me so I can remember?"
     "Ohhhhhh!  Definitely!"
The pen came out and he scribbled the heart while still smiling.
He handed it back to me and shook my hand firmly and said thank you for waiting and coming to see the movie.
I still find it amazing how proud he is of this and how much joy he breathes in from his fans.  Even after hours of hand shaking and picture taking and smiling.
And I teared up a little too.  But don't tell anyone...
